Hackensack University Medical Center
Hackensack, New Jersey
Minimally Invasive Robotic OR

Hackensack University Medical Center in their ongoing efforts to maintain a state-of-the-art medical center sought to create two new highly complex operating rooms within the confines of an already crowded surgical environment. The project program called for creating a Minimally Invasive Laparoscopic OR, and a Neurological OR.

Planning strategies displaced Storage Room space and Anesthesia Work Room space which was consuming critical floor area within the core of the surgical suite. Once the non-patient care space was decanted the new operating rooms were able to be complexly integrated into the already congested surgical infrastructure.

Each OR consisted of not only the minimum standards, but additional spatial considerations for full integration of robotic surgical equipment and a full featured information sharing system designed in close collaboration with Karl Storz Endoscopy. Multiple lighting configurations were also integrated into the information sharing system controls. Extensive utilization of equipment booms and suspension systems freed the OR's of floor clutter.

 

Lake Charles Memorial Hospital

Outpatient Surgery Center

The Lake Charles Memorial Hospital sought to create a free standing Outpatient Surgical Center, in conjunction with a three story Medical Office Building containing a medical mall, imaging center and medical office suites. The two buildings would be joined by an above grade pedestrian bridge.

Planning strategies analyzed volumes, flow, and compliance with regulatory requirements with an eye toward maximizing flow patterns of patients and staff to increase efficiency and patient volume. The sterile core of the facility was designed to accommodate four outpatient operating rooms and two procedure rooms, with shell space to accommodate the creation of two additional operating rooms in the future.
