Michael A. Pomarico, R.A., NCARB CSI ASHE
Principal Architect/Partner
Mr. Pomarico is a graduate of Orange County Community College, School of Construction Technology and Pratt Institute, School of Architecture, and maintains Architectural Registration in the States of New York, New Jersey Texas and Louisiana. Additionally, Mr. Pomarico maintains a certificate from the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards. is a member of the Construction Specifications Institute, American Society of Healthcare Engineers, New Jersey Healthcare Facilities Managers Society, Architectural Woodworking Institute, and The Southern Standard Building Code Congress.
Mr. Pomarico graduated from Pratt Institute in 1984. He briefly worked as a Designer for Planned Expansion Group, Architects, White Plains, New York. From 1985, through 1991, Mr. Pomarico practiced health care Architecture in the positions of Designer, Project Architect, at the firm of Albert Schunkewitz and Partners, Architects, P.C. a leading health care architectural firm located in New York City. In 1990, Mr. Pomarico was named an Associate, at the firm of Albert Schunkewitz and Partners, Architects, P.C. In 1991, Mr. Pomarico formed Michael A. Pomarico, Architect dba Pomarico Design Studio and has continued to provide quality service to the health care community. Mr. Pomarico works primarily in a joint venture relationship with Dominick Taranto, Architect of DTA, Inc. , Health Care Architects, Designers and Planners.
Mr. Pomarico possesses comprehensive experience in health care systems architecture, and related support services. Mr. Pomarico’s 17 years experience in the Planning, Design, and Administration of Construction of health care facilities and medical office environments has included projects of various sizes, and complexities. Of special note is his experience in specialized medical systems installations, including MRI, CT, LINAC, Cardiac Catheterization, Angiography, and other sophisticated diagnostic and treatment equipment. Mr. Pomarico also has a complete understanding of codes, regulatory requirements and construction techniques. In total, Mr. Pomarico maintains an aggregate of more than $100,000,000 in built construction experience. In addition to architectural design, Mr. Pomarico maintains experience in site planning and design, as well as preparation of documents and submittal to Planning and Zoning authorities.
Mr. Pomarico is fully educated in computers, CAD systems, and graphic design software and has applied this knowledge to a comprehensive application of this technology to the profession of Architecture. Mr. Pomarico, has worked with more than 24 health care clients and has been involved and/or completed approximately 120 projects, many of which were performed for repeat clients.
Dominick Taranto, R.A., AIA
Associated Architect
Mr. Taranto established private practice in 1992, previously he was a principal partner with Albert Schunkewitz & Partners, Architects, P.C. and was with the firm for twenty five (25) years. He studied at the School of Architecture, Pratt Institute and has more than 30 years experience on a variety of projects which include Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Research Facilities, Housing and Commercial Buildings.
Mr. Taranto has extensive experience and training in the planning of Health Care Facilities and offers comprehensive knowledge in the very specialized field of Health Care Architecture. His in-depth background encompasses programming, conceptual planning, departmental design, equipment selection and specifications. His comprehensive knowledge of medical procedures and equipment assures accurate planning of physical spaces related to the function. Mr. Taranto also has a complete understanding of codes, regulatory requirements and construction techniques. As a result of his specialization, he has developed a technical mastering of health care architecture.
Mr. Taranto’s services have been specifically developed in direct response to his dedication to health care planning and architecture. These services are intended to provide performance with flexibility to the individual assignment, while being comprehensive to the overall needs of our health care clients. Mr. Taranto’s services include: application preparation and processing; programming; evaluation of existing facilities; master planning; governmental agency liaison; compliance with accreditation surveys; modernization and expansion projects; design of new facilities; preparation of construction contract documents; and, construction procedures.
Dominick Taranto, has worked with more than 65 health care clients and has been involved and/or completed approximately 200 projects, many of which were performed for repeat clients. The award of additional projects is the ultimate compliment from the client to the architect for work accomplished.
Mr. Taranto has current active architectural registration in the states of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Louisiana with certification by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards. He is a member of New Jersey Society of Architects and of the American Institute of Architects. Other active memberships include the American Hospital Association and National Fire Association.
Brett Huttman
Project Architect
Mr. Huttman, a licensed and registered Architect in the State of New York, joined Pomarico Design Studio, Architects in June 2008. He comes to us with twenty years of successfully managing projects from Schematic Design through Construction Administration.
Mr. Huttman is experienced in zoning and building code analysis, presentation of projects to planning and zoning boards, development of construction documents and specifications, attending project meetings with clients, contractors and consultants, field observations, punch list inspections and all project correspondence.
Mr. Huttman has extensive architectural drafting and management experience, encompassing all phases of healthcare, commercial, retail, municipal, renovation, and residential projects. Mr. Huttman applies this experience directly to the projects on which he is works, bringing a detailed level of expertise and in depth coordination to the Construction Documents. Mr. Huttman oversees the Construction Document process at Pomarico Design Studio.
Mr. Huttman is experienced in creative design solutions developed through the evaluation and analysis of design problems. He is well versed in thorough zoning and building code analyses affecting project design.
Mr. HuttmanÕs healthcare project experience includes work for medical office, veterinary, outpatient diagnostic and treatment clinics, and hospital facilities. He has performed services for project types including interior renovations and alterations, additions, JCAHO SOC documentation, and new construction.
Mr. Huttman is a member of the following professional organizations: American Society for Healthcare Engineering, American Institute of Architects, National Fire Protection Association, and the International Code Council.
Daniel Ricci
Project Manager
Mr. Ricci is an alumni of Westchester Community College’s Engineering
Sciences and CAD programs, having attended part-time fall ’99 through
fall ’05.
He is currently pursuing Intern status with NCARB. He has worked with
Michael A. Pomarico, Architect dba Pomarico Design Studio since November 2005.
Mr. Ricci performs the role of Project Manager on a number of healthcare
projects of various sizes and complexities. Mr. Ricci maintains the
capacity to
perform quality design coordination between the many diverse and complicated
trades related to the successful implementation of a healthcare project.
Mr. Ricci
daily integrates the successful implementation of the firms consulting
engineers
into the project management process.
Additionally, Mr. Ricci is capable of clearly and accurately communicating
with
contractors and construction managers in the course of implementing
the firms
design work. Mr. Ricci manages the distribution of documents for both
bid and
construction, addenda, bulletins other document revisions. Mr. Ricci
also
performs shop drawing review and coordination to ensure successful project
outcomes.
Mr. Ricci possesses extensive construction experience entailing 14
years of
rough and detail carpentry, sheet rocking, painting, and construction
management. Mr. Ricci also has 5 years experience in the CAD field including
over 30 projects for multiple clients (many of them repeat clients)
to date.
Mr. Ricci is fully educated in many computer systems and programs including
all
current versions of AutoCAD and many graphical software programs.
Donna Richardson
Administrative Office Manager
Ms. Richardson joined the team at Pomarico Design Studio in February 2008. Her primary responsibility is to bridge communication and processes related to the relationships between the studio and our clients.
She is the initial point of contact and supports our clientÕs needs by frequently speaking with them to understand their needs and to ensure that these needs are addressed. As a result, Ms. Richardson has established relationships with high level executives and their staff which strengthens the flow of projects and enables them to run more smoothly.
Ms. Richardson manages the day-to-day operations of the studio including preparation of proposals, media, and coordination of presentations. Ms. Richardson assists in creating Requests for Proposal, Letters of Agreement, AIA documents, and amends contracts as needed. Ms Richardson works directly with
Mr. Pomarico and our clients to comprehensively assess project needs related to bid and construction contracts, assembling well organized and complete project manuals and bid documents.
She works with closely with NJDOH/NJDHSS for project submission, for document/project tracking, and for project updates. Ms. Richardson's ongoing relationship building with the State of New Jersey assures our clients that this critical phase of the design and construction document approval process proceeds seamlessly thus reducing durations of the plan review process.
Ms. Richardson is a graduate of Marist College located in Poughkeepsie, New York. She has a B.S. in Organizational Leadership and Communication and an ABA approved Certificate in Paralegal Studies.
